Caribbean risk management academy (CRMA)

The CRMA stands as the leading hub for training, consulting, and research in risk management across the Caribbean. Our offerings span tailored training programs, expert consulting, bespoke workshops, and cutting-edge research in Enterprise Risk Management, Strategic Risk Management, ESG, Risk Governance, and Leadership. As a regional institution, CRMA operates alongside its sister company, KH Business Consultants LLC, a US-registered entity dedicated to fortifying organizations against future uncertainties.

Founded by Ken Hackshaw, CRMA emerged from a critical need for risk management expertise observed during consulting ventures across the Caribbean. With Mr. Hackshaw’s extensive background in Risk Management on Wall Street and London, CRMA is committed to becoming the Caribbean’s foremost provider of enterprise-wide risk management education.

We aim to give Caribbean entities the essential tools for heightened risk intelligence, resilience, innovation, and risk culture. To that end, CRMA designed an International Certificate in ERM that is being offered through a partnership with the University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus School of Business. This program has seen more than two hundred (200) participants “graduate” since its inception in 2022.

CRMA blends global experience with local insights, a unique approach that ensures our research and educational materials are tailored to the region’s evolving socio-economic, environmental, technological, and regulatory landscape. Over the past decade, our team has curated and delivered bespoke Risk Management training programs for both private and public sector entities, boasting a roster of consultants who are not only experts in their field but also seasoned educators and communicators. Notably, our team includes producers of acclaimed Risk Management podcasts, such as “Flip this Risk” by Dr. Karen Hardy and “Risks Unfiltered” with Ken Hackshaw, bringing valuable insights and expertise to the forefront.

Our training methodologies prioritize innovation, a commitment that was in place long before the pandemic necessitated online transitions. We were among the first to utilize digital platforms, gamification, and remote learning, presenting an exciting frontier for education. While online learning presents its challenges, we recognize the pitfalls of inexperienced implementation. CRMA distinguishes itself through its adeptness in online delivery, leveraging our expertise, communication skills, knowledge, and technology to ensure high levels of engagement, knowledge retention, and real-world application for participants and their organizations, an experience that is sure to excite our audience.

Trinidad and Tobago Risk Management Institute (TTRMI)

The Trinidad and Tobago Risk Management Institute was formed in response to a tremendous need for risk management training identified during management consulting projects in Trinidad and Tobago. The organizations advocates for proactive and anticipatory risk management. We train leaders and senior management on horizon scanning to identify emerging risks; taking risk management beyond business continuity, disaster risk response management or finance and credit risk management towards Strategic and Enterprise Risk approaches.

The Mission of the TTRMI is to promote the development and implementation of a risk management culture within private and public sector enterprises by providing a vehicle for the initial training and lifelong learning opportunities for new and established risk management professionals throughout the Caribbean. Our Goal is to strive to become a locally and regionally recognized knowledge center in risk management.

We also aim to advocate, discuss and exchange ideas on both the principles and the practical application of risk management that can redound to the benefit of an organization. The institute will continue to develop thought leadership and provide learning opportunities for risk professionals and business leaders with a view to enhance risk management best practice both locally and regionally.
